Injuries are a standard part of every team's preseason, but at Wisconsin, the health watch carries greater weight after a painful offseason.

Badgers fans will be glad to know defensive end O'Brien Schofield, a projected starter who injured his ankle last week, practiced Monday morning, according to Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The bad news is starting outside linebacker Jonathan Casillas showed up to practice on crutches with his left leg wrapped. Wisconsin has decent depth at linebacker but needs Casillas ready for the season.

The team wisely is taking no chances with tight end Travis Beckum (hamstring), defensive end Kirk DeCremer (back) and reserve running back John Clay (ankle).

Also, coach Bret Bielema has joined the blogging world. Welcome, coach.
