Ohio State reserve defensive lineman Willie Mobley has decided to transfer to UCLA, Rivals.com is reporting.
Mobley redshirted last season and entered training camp as a third-string defensive tackle. Ohio State has quite a logjam at defensive line, the team's strongest position group, so Mobley's chances of seeing the field seemed slim.
"I want to thank the whole Buckeye family for supporting me through my injury and everything," Mobley told Rivals.com. "I have learned so much from coach [Jim] Tressel and the rest of the coaches and my teammates. ... This had nothing to do with the state of Ohio or the fans or anything. This is just something that was best for me and something that I had to do."
UCLA was among the schools that recruited Mobley out of Eden Prairie High School in Minnesota. Mobley would be eligible to play in 2010.
