Guiton moving up Buckeyes' depth chart
By Adam Rittenberg
When Ohio State's quarterbacks took the field for warmups before the Illinois game, it was a bit tough to decipher who went where.
During individual drills, starter Braxton Miller made the first throws, followed by Joe Bauserman and Kenny Guiton. But when the Buckeyes practiced as a unit, Guiton got more reps than Bauserman with the second-team offense.
Who will be Miller's backup when Ohio State resumes play Oct. 29 against Wisconsin?
It's looking like Kenny G.
No, not that Kenny G, the Kenny G most Buckeyes fans have wanted to see for several weeks.
Coach Luke Fickell said after Tuesday's team practice that Guiton has been taking more reps than Bauserman with the second-team offense. Fickell said Guiton is "probably a little ahead of Joe" as the Buckeyes' backup quarterback.
The 6-2, 195-pound Guiton turned heads in the 2010 spring game but remained as Ohio State's No. 3 quarterback during the season behind Bauserman and starter Terrelle Pryor. He saw limited action in two games and has yet to play this season.
Now it looks like he'll be the next man in against Wisconsin if anything happens to Miller.
