Gardner to start at QB again for Michigan
By Brian Bennett
It's official. Devin Gardner will start at quarterback for Michigan for a second straight week when the Wolverines take on Northwestern at home today.
Head coach Brady Hoke had been coy all week about whether Denard Robinson would return from the nerve issue in his elbow that knocked him out of the Nebraska game two weeks ago. But it appears as if Robinson's health remains an issue. Robinson is in uniform and did go through warm-ups, but he is unlikely to play even in a limited role today.
But Michigan feels like it is in good hands with Gardner, who completed 12-for-18 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception and a rushing score, in last week's win at Minnesota. Having him in there changes the offense a little, because he's not quite as dynamic a runner as Robinson (who is?) but showed last week that he can throw the ball with accuracy down the field.
