Polls: Buckeyes up to No. 4 in AP
By Brian Bennett
Can Ohio State win an Associated Press national title if the Buckeyes finish 12-0?
Urban Meyer's team is one of only two unbeaten programs in the FBS, along with Notre Dame. And Ohio State is now up to No. 4 in the AP poll, behind only the Irish, Alabama and Georgia. Remember, Georgia and Alabama will play each other in the SEC title game. If Notre Dame loses to USC, the Buckeyes have a chance to climb to No. 2 before bowl season.
Nebraska failed to make up any ground after a 38-14 win over Minnesota. The Huskers remain No. 14 in the USA Today coaches poll and actually dropped a spot to No. 17 in AP. The coaches poll is the only one that matters for BCS purposes.
Michigan is up to No. 20 in both polls. The Wolverines have some work to do to get into the top 14 of the BCS standings, which will be released tonight. But a win over Ohio State on Saturday would be a big help.
Northwestern is 26th in the AP and 27th in the coaches poll, while Wisconsin is 34th in AP and 36th in the coaches.
