Penn State reserve running back Brandon Beachum will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee during the Nittany Lions' win against Indiana on Saturday.

Beachum sustained the injury while serving on the kickoff return team at the start of the second half. The sophomore will undergo surgery within the next two weeks and begin a rehab process of at least nine months, according to team doctor Wayne Sebastianelli. He'll miss spring ball but should return for preseason camp.

The 6-foot, 218-pound Beachum ranks fourth on the team in rushing with 24 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown. He has appeared in all 11 games this season.

Penn State has backup running back Stephfon Green back in the fold, though Beachum provided additional depth behind starter Evan Royster. The Lions have leaned on fullback Joe Suhey and likely will continue to do so with Beachum sidelined.
