Buckeyes chow down without Pryor

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- I've arrived safely in California and just dropped in on Ohio State's trip to Lawry's Beef Bowl in Beverly Hills.

The Lawry's trip is one of several traditional activities for the two Rose Bowl participants (Oregon goes Monday). It's been around for 54 years. Players gorge themselves on meat, socialize with the Rose Bowl princesses and queen and generally have a good time.

There wasn't much news at the event, except for the fact that starting quarterback Terrelle Pryor didn't show up.

Pryor was among a small group of Buckeyes players who didn't dine at Lawry's. A team official told me Pryor practiced Sunday, isn't hurt and faces no disciplinary issues. The quarterback might not have brought the proper dress attire with him to California.

While Ohio State insists Pryor's absence was no big deal, it still seems a bit strange that the starting quarterback didn't attend one of the Rose Bowl's main team events. Pryor is scheduled to meet with reporters Monday morning, and I'll have more following that session.
