Big Ten race update: Week 13

By Brian Bennett

There are just two weeks left in the regular season, and we've whittled down the list of Big Ten title contenders to two in each division. It all could get decided this weekend. Let's take a quick look at where things stand:

Legends Division

Still standing: Michigan State (6-0 Big Ten) and Minnesota (4-2). Note: Nebraska can tie for the Legends title but cannot make the Big Ten championship game because of its head-to-head losses against both the Spartans and Gophers.

The path ahead: Michigan State had clinched at least a share of the Legends title, and its magic number for winning the division is one. If the Spartans win this week against Northwestern, or if Minnesota loses to Wisconsin, Mark Dantonio's team will go to Indianapolis. If Michigan State loses and the Gophers win this week, that will set up a winner-take-all season finale between the two teams in East Lansing on Nov. 30.

Leaders Division

Still standing: Ohio State (6-0) and Wisconsin (5-1).

The path ahead: Because Ohio State beat Wisconsin earlier this season, it also has a magic number of one. If the Buckeyes beat Indiana at home this week, or if Wisconsin loses to Minnesota, Urban Meyer's team can book its trip to Indy. The Badgers' only hope is to win out and hope Ohio State -- which hasn't lost in 22 tries under Meyer -- somehow loses its final two regular-season games.
