Mitch Larkin sets short course world record in 200-meter backstroke

SYDNEY -- Australian swimmer Mitch Larkin has set a short course world record in the 200 meters backstroke final at the Australian Short Course Championships

Larkin's time of 1 minute, 45.63 seconds was more than half a second faster than the previous record of 1:46.11, set by Russia's Arkady Vyatchanin at the 2009 World Short Course Championships.

Larkin claimed gold in both the 100m and 200m backstroke at Russia's World Championships in August.
