Wildcats complete 2010 slate with CMU

Northwestern has finalized its 2010 schedule with the addition of Mid-American Conference champion Central Michigan.

The Wildcats will host the Chippewas on Sept. 25 at Ryan Field. Northwestern's bye week will take place Oct. 16, giving the team an even split of six games on either side of the open date.

Northwestern and Central Michigan have never met.

This looks like a solid addition for NU, which will play two nonconference road games (Vanderbilt, Rice) as well as Illinois State at home. Central Michigan certainly can beat just about anybody, but the Chippewas have a new coach and lose superstar quarterback Dan LeFevour next fall.

Here's Northwestern's complete 2010 schedule:

Sept. 4: at Vanderbilt

Sept. 11: Illinois State

Sept. 18: at Rice

Sept. 25: Central Michigan

Oct. 2: at Minnesota

Oct. 9: Purdue

Oct. 16: Open

Oct. 23: Michigan State

Oct. 29: at Indiana

Nov. 6: at Penn State

Nov. 13: Iowa

Nov. 20: Illinois

Nov. 27: at Wisconsin

Also, Wildcats quarterback Mike Kafka and cornerback Sherrick McManis will play for the East squad in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 23 in Orlando, Fla.
