Big Ten's Super Bowl XLVI connections

1/24/2012

The Super Bowl returns to Big Ten territory on Feb. 5, and there will be plenty of Big Ten connections at Lucas Oil Stadium as the New England Patriots and New York Giants square off.

As the Big Ten office recently outlined in a release, the league will have 22 former players on the Super Bowl rosters, the second-highest total among conferences behind the SEC (23). The Big Ten and SEC are the only two leagues with more than 20 players participating in the game. Ten of the 12 Big Ten members have players on the Super Bowl squads -- only Northwestern and Minnesota aren't represented -- and eight coaches with ties to the league also are participating in the game.
