The Bruins announced Wednesday that they have signed defenseman Aaron Johnson to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2012-13 season. Johnson’s contract will be worth $650,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level.
Johnson had 13 assists and 16 points in 56 games with the Blue Jackets last season. In 2010-11, Johnson had 35 points in 72 games with the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) after signing as an unrestricted free agent with Nashville in the summer of 2010. In 281 NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Chicago Blackhawks and New York Islanders, Johnson has 17 goals and 45 assists for 62 total points, with 217 penalty minutes.
