WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid did not practice again with the team on Wednesday at Ristuccia Arena and his status remains unclear at this point.
McQuaid has been sidelined since he suffered what appeared to be a right leg injury early in the first period last Saturday and did not return as Boston defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-1, at TD Garden.
McQuaid was attempting to receive a pass behind the Boston net when he dropped to the ice in obvious pain. He remained there until play was stopped. It appeared he was grabbing the groin/hip area of his right leg.
“Still day-to-day,” Julien said after Wednesday’s practice as the team prepared to host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night at TD Garden. “He’s not skating now because he’s not capable of it. We keep hoping he keeps improving and we’ll see where he stands by then.”
Julien said it’s too early to know whether McQuaid will travel with the Bruins on the upcoming road trip. “No idea,” he said. “We haven’t talked about it.”
