Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron’s role has changed for Team Canada, and he made the most of his opportunity with two assists in Thursday’s 3-1 win over Norway in the preliminary round of the men’s ice hockey competition.
When Canada won the gold medal in 2010, Bergeron served as the team’s 13th forward. Now, he’s earned more ice time, as shown in the win against Norway. He posted a plus-2 rating and registered three shots on goal. The Bruins’ assistant captain also worked special teams for Canada.
On Friday, Czech Republic (David Krejci) will play Latvia (3 a.m.), Sweden (Loui Eriksson) faces Switzerland (7:30 a.m.), Canada versus Austria (noon), and Finland (Tuukka Rask) will face Norway (noon).
