BOSTON -- Bruins coach Claude Julien had no update Sunday on defenseman Zdeno Chara, who missed Game 2 of the team's Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Montreal Canadiens because of what Julien termed dehydration. A Bruins source told ESPNBoston.com on Saturday night that Chara had a “vicious stomach virus.”

On Sunday, Julien said the Norris Trophy candidate would travel with the team to Montreal, where Game 3 will be played Monday night.

“No further update on Zdeno,” Julien said Sunday. “He’s been in touch with our doctors and our medical staff and he will be traveling with the team. So that’s basically all I’m going to say about that.

"And I guess I’ll take a page out of [Philadelphia Flyers coach] Peter Laviolette’s book from last night. We don’t discuss lineups, we don’t discuss our goaltenders and we don’t discuss our injuries. So I like that, and I’ll give him credit for that one.”

Chara was hospitalized Friday night for his symptoms, missed the morning skate on Saturday morning, then skated in pregame warmups Saturday night, but was unable to play.

"There was no way he could play," Julien said after Game 2 Saturday night. "He came off the ice and he was sweaty, he was dizzy, and there was no way in the world that we could have used him tonight ... absolutely no way."
