No discussion yet of extension for coaches

BOSTON -- Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli was in a good mood during his press conference Friday morning at TD Garden.

Why shouldn’t he be? After all, the Bruins are the 2011 Stanley Cup champions.

The GM spent 20 minutes talking about the team’s season, and when he was asked about an extension for coach Claude Julien, Chiarelli had an interesting way of answering the question.

“That’s actually the first time some has asked me that question about our coaches. I don’t know what to say,” Chiarelli said with a laugh, referring to the fact Julien’s status has been in question all season, including at the start of the playoffs. “They are currently under contract into subsequent years, so nothing forthcoming.”
