BOSTON -- Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas has been selected as a starter for the All-Star Game on Jan. 29 in Ottawa.

Thomas, the reigning Vezina and Conn Smythe winner, is 14-2-0 in his last 16 games. Overall, he’s 17-6-0 in 24 starts with a 1.90 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage.

“It’s an honor for him to be voted as a starter and it’s well deserved,” Julien said. “Unless there’s a reason for him not to go, I’m very supportive of him going. It’s a thrill to be there. It’s enjoyable and we’ll find him rest in other places because we have that luxury of having a great goaltender in Tuukka [Rask] who can handle more games than what he’s given.”

Meanwhile, after the Bruins dismantled the New Jersey Devils 6-1 Wednesday night at Prudential Center, Boston coach Claude Julien decided to give his players Thursday morning off. The team will host the Calgary Flames Thursday at TD Garden.

Julien also said that forward Rich Peverley, who has been dealing with an undisclosed injury for much of the season, will be in the lineup again Thursday.
