McQuaid out Monday for personal reason
By Joe McDonald
WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid missed practice Sunday morning due to a personal reason, and he will not travel with the team to North Carolina to face the Hurricanes Monday night at PNC Arena.
McQuaid could be ready for Tuesday’s game when the Bruins host the New Jersey Devils at TD Garden.
“There’s no injury, it’s just personal,” Bruins coach Claude Julien said.
Veteran defenseman Aaron Johnson will be in the lineup Monday night against the Hurricanes. The 29-year-old blueliner signed with the Bruins as a free agent last July and has played two games this season. He also played two games for the Providence Bruins during a recent conditioning stint.
“He’s been fine,” Julien said. “You can tell he’s been in the league for a while and he’s got some experience. To come in here and play the way he’s played, and to do the job he’s done, we’re really pleased with him. He’s got good size, sees the ice well. There are areas he’s still trying to find his timing, but overall his play has been pretty good.”
