Julien not worried about the weather

WILMINGTON, Mass. – Even though the region will get hit hard by a winter storm for parts of Friday and Saturday, the Boston Bruins are still preparing to host the Tampa Bay Lightning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at TD Garden.

After a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens Wednesday night at Bell Centre in Montreal, the Bruins returned home and held an optional practice at Ristuccia Arena on Thursday morning. Despite the forecast, Bruins coach Claude Julien is preparing as he normally would for a game.

“I really don’t want to worry about what’s going to happen in two days until it happens,” he said.

Tampa is playing at the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night and will immediately fly to Boston. So, both teams will be available to play on Saturday, but Julien has not been told whether there’s a chance the game will be postponed.

“I haven’t been told anything in regards to that,” Julien said. “We’ve seen those situations happen before. I want to focus on getting ready to play, like we should versus whether we’re going to play or not. If it does, we’ll adjust, but right now it’s status quo.”

Asked if the game would still be played in an empty building, Julien said: “That’s a league decision.”
