Bruins stuck in Toronto overnight
By Joe McDonald
TORONTO -- After the Boston Bruins’ 2-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series Sunday night at Air Canada Centre, the Bruins announced they would be staying in Toronto and not travel back to Boston until Monday morning, the day of Game 7, because of an issue with the team’s charter.
“Late during tonight's game we were made aware that there was a malfunction with our airplane,” Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said in a statement. “As a result we are staying in Toronto on Sunday night and the team will travel to Boston on Monday morning.”
Staying in Toronto for the night could be a good thing for the Bruins. The players should take advantage of a better night’s sleep, and they probably won’t have to be at the rink in the morning to deal with any media availability. The plane malfunction could help the Bruins focus a little more on the task at hand, and that’s Game 7.
