Bruins recall Hamill from Providence

By Joe McDonald

BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins are going to need some reinforcements, so the club recalled forward Zach Hamill from Providence.

Since it appears that the season is over for Marc Savard (concussion) and Daniel Paille could be facing a suspension for an illegal hit to the head during Thursday’s game against the Dallas Stars, Hamill will get an opportunity in Boston.

The 22-year-old forward has 3 goals and 25 assists for 28 points for the P-Bruins this season. Originally selected by the Bruins in the first round (8th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Hamill made his NHL debut last season in a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals on April 11.

“He’s been playing really well [in Providence],” said Bruins coach Claude Julien. “In the last month, he’s been outstanding. He played that one game for us in Washington at the end of last year and I liked his game. I’m looking forward to seeing him play with us, and hopefully he plays as well as he has been in Providence.”
