Breaking down Luongo's turnaround
Some stats and numbers from Game 5, courtesy the ESPN Stats and Info crew:
Roberto Luongo is the second goalie in Stanley Cup finals history to win two 1-0 shutouts in a single series, according to Elias. He joins Frank McCool of Toronto, who did it in 1945 against Detroit (Games 1 and 3).
Luongo is the first goalie with multiple shutouts in a Stanley Cup finals series since Chris Osgood had two in 2008.
Luongo has allowed just two goals on 97 shots faced in the three games at home this series. He allowed 12 on 58 shots faced in Games 3-4 in Boston.
Luongo This Postseason:
At home: 10-3, .943 save pct, 1.70 GAA, 4 shutouts
On road: 5-5, .885 save pct, 3.49 GAA, 0 shutouts
According to Elias, this was just the third time in NHL history at least two games in a Stanley Cup finals series have been scoreless at the second intermission. (1945 Toronto-Detroit 3 times, Buffalo-Philadelphia 2 times).
