Marchand fined by league for trip

BOSTON -- The NHL announced Monday that Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been fined $2,500 for a slew-foot incident against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 5.
Marchand was assessed a minor penalty for tripping when he took out the Penguins’ Matt Niskanen at 3:19 of the first period during Boston’s 3-1 win at Pittsburgh.
The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
