Bruins guaranteed a top-three pick

By Joe McDonald

BOSTON – Bruins management will be in Toronto on Tuesday night for a little event called the draft lottery.

With the Maple Leafs losing to the Rangers on Wednesday night, Toronto has clinched the second-worst record in the NHL, which guarantees the Bruins a top three pick in the 2010 draft. Boston acquired the Maple Leafs first- and second-round picks in exchange for forward Phil Kessel in a trade last September.

The top three prospects in this year’s draft are Tyler Seguin, Taylor Hall and Brett Connolly. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli will be on hand for the draft lottery. Boston has won the top spot only once and that resulted in the team selecting Joe Thornton in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
