Thomas starting tonight vs. Panthers
Tim Thomas and the Boston Bruins hope to get back on track tonight as they wrap up a three-game road trip in Florida against the Panthers.
Thomas, 37, will make his 11th straight appearance, including nine starts in that span, for the Bruins.
The team is coming off an embarrassing 6-1 loss to the Lightning on Tuesday in which Boston played a game of musical goalies -- Marty Turco got his first start, was quickly replaced by Tim Thomas after he let up three goals on six shots, and then Thomas was replaced by Turco 3:06 into the second period after allowing two goals on five shots.
"We can't blame it on our goalies," defenseman Zdeno Charo said afterward. "They've had our backs so many times this season, and it's one of those games when we had to have their backs and we didn't do that."
Thomas and the rest of the team appear to be battling fatigue as they look to avoid a fourth straight regulation loss.
"The thing that keeps coming up right now -- and the thing I can sense -- is that fatigue is setting in," coach Claude Julien said to reporters in Tampa after the game. "It's the biggest challenge I have now."
