McQuaid, Boychuk, Rolson out vs. Sabres
By James Murphy
BOSTON -- Bruins defensemen Adam McQuaid and Johnny Boychuk and forward Brian Rolston will not play for the Bruins Saturday against the Sabres, coach Claude Julien said.
McQuaid (eye) and Boychuk (knee) continue to recover from injuries, while Rolston was given the day off to rest before the playoffs. Julien said that he sees no reason why Boychuk shouldn’t be ready for the start of the playoffs. He was not asked, however, about the status of McQuaid.
Julien said that rookie defenseman Torey Krug will not play, so Mike Motteau will be back on the blue line for Boston.
“He’s played a couple of games but he can’t play for us in the playoffs so we need to put some guys in that we might be utilizing then,” Julien said of the decision to scratch Krug.
Tim Thomas will start in goal for the Bruins.
