Seguin: 'It's a lot different this year'
By Joe McDonald
WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Boston Bruins forward Tyler Seguin did not know what to expect a year ago at this time as the Stanley Cup playoffs were about to begin.
“What was going through my head last year was just if I was going to be playing and how I could contribute if I was going to be in that night,” he said. “So it’s a lot different this year and I definitely like it better with the more I can contribute on the ice.”
Seguin was a rookie last season and once the puck dropped on the postseason, he did not break into the lineup until the Bruins reached the Eastern Conference finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He was a healthy scratch each game of the first two rounds against the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers, but when teammate Patrice Bergeron suffered a concussion in Game 4 of the semifinals and missed the first two games of the conference finals, Seguin was thrust into the lineup and made an immediate impact.
