Celtics forward Paul Pierce will need a couple extra oversized ice packs following Saturday's 106-80 triumph over the Bulls in Chicago.

Pierce got what coach Doc Rivers suggested was a stinger in his right shoulder midway through the third quarter, but stayed in the game after collapsing to the ground in pain.

Later that frame, Pierce knocked knees with Bulls forward Luol Deng, but didn't look too worse for the wear.

Pierce finished 4 of 12 shooting for 14 points with three assists and three rebounds in 25 minutes.

"When he came back in [after the shoulder injury], I just assumed he was OK," said Rivers. "[Trainer] Eddie [Lacerte] said it was a stinger on the shoulder... then he tweaked his knee, but it's nothing bad. He was just in the wrong place a lot tonight and got hit a lot."

Pierce was fighting through a screen when the shoulder injury occurred. He collapsed to the floor, clutching the shoulder in pain, and was attended to by trainers as the Celtics called a timeout following a defensive rebound. Pierce was back on the floor when play resumed.
