The Philadelphia 76ers, who visit the TD Garden Friday, snapped a 12-game losing streak Monday night with 117-101 triumph over the Golden State Warriors. But that doesn't mean the Sixers are drama free (and, for once, it has little to do with Allen Iverson).
Phialdelphia coach Eddie Jordan benched power forward Elton Brand Monday in favor of a lineup that had rookie point guard Jrue Holiday paired with Iverson in the backcourt. Holiday finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, while Iverson registered his second consecutive 20-point outing.
Brand, in the second year of a five-year, $80 million contract, voiced displeasure in being relegated to the bench, slightly at the expense of former Celtic reserve Mikki Moore:
Brand's comments earned him Quote of the Night on our Daily Dime. He did finished with 11 points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes.
Holiday, you'll recall, made his first career start against Boston on Nov. 25. Staring in place of injured point guard Lou Williams, Hoiday finished with 10 points and six assists over 34:21.
The Sixers (6-18) host LeBron James and the Cavaliers Wednesday before coming to Boston Friday.
