Instant reaction following the Celtics' 103-99 loss to the Golden State Warriors Monday night in Oakland:

How the game was won: Warriors guard Monta Ellis went wire-to-wire, pouring in 37 points (15-of-26 from the floor) with four assists as Golden State erased an early 18-point deficit to hand Boston its second loss in as many nights. The Celtics built a comfortable advantage on the strength of a 35-point, first-quarter outburst, but the Warriors roared back before intermission. Rajon Rondo finished with a season-high 30 points (11-of-18 from the floor) with 15 assists and 3 steals to pace the Celtics.

Turning point: A pair of Rondo free throws with 5:18 to go made it a one-possession game, but Ellis connected on a pair of jumpers to keep the Celtics at arm's length. Ray Allen missed a potential tying 3-pointer with 35 seconds to play, then botched an attempt to intentionally miss a free throw in a two-point game with 4.4 seconds to go.

Stat of the game: The Celtics finished with a season-high 25 turnovers, by far their most of the 2009-10 campaign (20 against Orlando on Christmas was the previous high).

Unsung hero: Anthony Randolph scored 18 points and made three consecutive baskets in the third quarter as the Warriors turned a one-point deficit into a 71-66 advantage, taking control of the game from there.

What it means: Oracle Arena remains a house of horrors for Boston, which hasn't won in six straight visits there. It remains the only arena in the league the Big Three-era Celtics (albeit without Paul Pierce Monday night) have not won in. The Celtics (23-7) have lost two in a row for the first time since Nov. 13-14 against the Hawks and Pacers, and failed in a bid to match the Lakers (24-6) for the best record in basketball.
