The Memphis Grizzlies confirmed Friday night that they have been awarded rookie guard Lester Hudson, waived Wednesday by the Boston Celtics.

Hudson, who appeared in 16 games for Boston, grew up in Memphis and attended the University of Tennessee-Martin. Selected in the second round (58th overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft, Hudson was a casualty of roster mobility as the Celtics hope to utilize that roster spot down the road, likely for a veteran presence. He was waived before the deadline to guarantee contracts for the 2009-10 season.

Hudson worked out for the Grizzlies before the draft.
