Prince missed a short jumper and spilled hard to the court after taking a knee to the lower back from Maxiell while chasing his own miss. Boston scored at the other end of the floor on an alley-oop from Rajon Rondo to Kevin Garnett before the game was stopped with 4:56 to play in the first frame.

Prince laid on the court for a considerable time while trainers attended to him. He eventually got to his feet and was assisted off the court.

Detroit has been ravaged by injuries this season, with Prince, Richard Hamilton, and Ben Gordon combining to miss 80 games this season. The team was already playing without both Ben Wallace and Rodney Stuckey, who has not returned to action since collapsing on the Detroit bench earlier this month. Wallace injured his knee in a game against Boston in Detroit earlier this month and has missed seven straight contests.

No Piston player has appeared in every game this season. Prince had missed a team-high 32 games, while Hamilton (27) and Gordon (21) were close behind.
