Semih Erden scores Tuesday against Greece.Celtics rookie Semih Erden helped key a late third-quarter run as host Turkey improved to 3-0 in group play at the 2010 FIBA World Championships Tuesday with a 76-65 triumph over Greece.
Erden produced a pair of dunks to key a 10-1 burst that sent Turkey into the final frame on top, 65-61. For the game, he connected on all three shots he took for 10 points, while grabbing two rebounds over 15 minutes.
Turkey meets Puerto Rico (1-2) Wednesday, then wraps up group play Thursday against China (1-2). Barring a letdown, Erden and Co. should earn a spot in the Round of 8 (top two teams in each of the four groups), which begins Saturday. Turkey is the only undefeated team in Group C and handed both Greece and Russia their lone losses.
The 6-foot-11 Erden is averaging 8.3 points and 3.7 rebounds through three games.
