Celtics coach Doc Rivers is not present for the team's pre-draft workout Wednesday at the Sports Authority Training Center in Waltham, according to a team spokesman.

Rivers, who is still recovering from throat surgery last month, often defers the talent evaluation process to Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and his staff. Rivers has noted how he offers his opinions, but typically leans on Ainge and the team's scouting staff for draft purposes, noting how his own focus during the college basketball season is almost exclusively on Boston's on-court product.
