BOSTON -- Quick hits after the Celtics practiced Thursday at the TD Garden:

* Ainge, Rivers mum on Green's outlook: Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers were mum on Jeff Green's health outlook, suggesting more test results were in, but that the team would offer more insight on Friday. Hop HERE to read more.

* Injury report: Pierce will miss exhibition opener: Rivers announced that captain Paul Pierce (sore right heel) is likely out until Monday and will miss Sunday's exhibition opener against the Toronto Raptors. Rajon Rondo (sprained right ankle) was going to engage in non-contact activities Thursday with the goal of playing by Sunday. "Paul will be out until around Monday. That’s what Eddie said, he thought he could possibly play [in the exhibition game in Toronto], but why take the chance going from no practice to playing in an exhibition game. So, we’re probably going to leave him back. Rondo is going through stuff today, but I’m not going to let him go through anything live. For the open scrimmage tomorrow, we’ll see. Rondo may play Sunday, but I don’t know that."

* Kinda-injury report: Pavlovic hurts hand: Backup swingman Sasha Pavlovic, who had been getting some first-team run in practice with Pierce and Green sidelined, injured his left hand after taking a hard spill during Wednesday's practice session. "Sasha, I’m surprised he’s not [sitting out practice], but he’s not. He got flipped pretty bad in the air yesterday, landed on his hand, but he looks like he’s going to give it a go. Other than that, it's the same thing you hear everywhere else [around the league] -- strains, pains, and poor play."

* Practicing on their home turf: The Celtics plan to practice at the TD Garden the next two days in order to get new players acclimatized to their new surroundings. "We need to be in this building more," said Rivers. "Opening night is, what, five days after the season opens? That’s unusual. We have a lot of new guys that haven’t been in this building, on our side at least. So I just thought it’s a way of getting three [practices] in a row... Just so when they come back on Dec. 30 [for the home opener against the Pistons], it won’t be an away gym to them.”

* Loose balls: Brandon Bass drew a large media crowd... Both Rivers and Ainge noted that none of the training camp invites (Greg Stiemsma, Gilbert Brown, Jamal Sampson, and Michael Sweetney) had distinguished themselves in camp thus far, but Rivers did offer high praise for Stiemsma and suggested he's a candidate to occupy the final roster spot... Ainge suggested there's still the possibility of adding someone from outside the team, but reaffirmed that he'd be OK going into the season with the players that are currently on the roster.
