Philly writer responds to KG comment
"You think we’re the fair weather type, do you?" writes John Mitchell in a blog posted on Philly.com. "Ok, to that I say that it’s better to be fair weather than to be anything remotely akin the cretins that unleashed their racist vitriol via Twitter upon Washington Capitals defenseman Joel Ward, a Black hockey player, last month after he eliminated Boston’s Bruins from the NHL playoffs with an overtime goal."
Mitchell is referring to the flurry of racist messages that littered the Twittersphere after Ward's goal beat the Bruins in overtime of Game 7 in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The public outcry against those vile comments was swift and unanimous.
Mitchell assumes, of course, that those messages came primarily from Bruins fans. Was Mitchell's shot at Boston a fair one?
