BOSTON -- The Celtics selected Syracuse senior forward Kris Joseph with the 51st overall pick in Thursday's 2012 NBA draft.

Joseph, a 6-foot-7 forward, will join fellow Orange teammate Fab Melo, whom the Celtics selected with the 22nd overall pick.

Joseph averaged 13.4 points and 4.7 rebounds for the Orange last season, playing a role in Syracuse's run to the Elite 8, where the Orange were eventually eliminated by the Ohio State Buckeyes, led by Jared Sullinger, whom the Celtics selected with the 21st overall pick Thursday night.

This marks the second consecutive year the Celtics have chosen teammates from one school. Boston selected Purdue teammates JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore in the 2011 NBA draft.
