Celtics first-round picks Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo trekked to New Jersey earlier this week for the league's mandatory rookie transition program. Allow TrueHoop's Henry Abbott to explain the gathering:
As designed by the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association, the program is heavy on avoiding tricks: financial advisors with an eye on raiding the nest egg, gamblers eager to rope players into conspiracies and women scheming to entrap husbands are all on the agenda.

The even does include a fun photo shoot in which the rookies put on their jerseys and mug for the cameras. It's one of our first real looks at the first-year players in their new unis.

Speaking of rookies: As part of ESPN's national Summer Forecast series, Sullinger earned a single vote among the 100 panelists for potential Rookie of the Year. While we showed the Celtics some love with our ballot (you'll see later in the series), this writer's rookie pick was New Orleans' Anthony Davis, who swooped up a whopping 71 votes overall.

Read on for one more snapshot of Sullinger and Melo from the rookie program.
