The Boston Celtics announced Tuesday that they have exercised the 2013-14 option on guard Avery Bradley.

The move was essentially a formality. The Celtics held a $2.5 million team option for Bradley's fourth season from his rookie contract. That's a bargain for the player Bradley showed he could be last season. Bradley will be looking at a $3.6 million qualifying offer for the 2014-15 season.

Bradley will miss the start of the 2012-13 campaign while recovering from double shoulder surgery. He finished the 2011-12 regular season as a starter, replacing Ray Allen in the starting lineup before shoulder troubles cut his year short in the postseason.
