The history Celts are fighting to change

5/2/2013

The Celtics are one of 12 teams in NBA history to force a Game 6 after being down 3-0 in a playoff series (the Rockets have also accomplished that feat in these playoffs). No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series.

Should the Celtics win Game 6, they’d become just the fourth team in NBA history to force a Game 7 after trailing 3-0, joining the 1951 Knicks, the 1994 Nuggets and 2003 Trail Blazers.

And here's a fun look at the win probability the Celtics faced throughout the series, courtesy of numberFire.com. Interestingly, the Celtics just have a 15.93 percent chance of winning the series, according to numberFire.com, despite being down just three games to two:

Odds of Celtics beating the Knicks in conference quarterfinals:

* Start of Series (0-0): 28.08%

* Down 1-0: 19.03%

* Down 2-0: 10.66%

* Down 3-0: 2.48%

* Down 3-1: 5.22%

* Down 3-2: 15.93%
