Stevens on Bogans: 'Undecided, unknown'
By Chris Forsberg
BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics excused veteran guard Keith Bogans indefinitely on Tuesday due to personal reasons, but coach Brad Stevens wouldn't elaborate much on his status before Wednesday's game.
"I don’t really want to get into too many specifics," Stevens said. "He’s obviously been excused from the team for now. He’s still under contract here. I personally like Keith and that’s where I’ll leave it."
Does Stevens expect Bogans back with the team?
"Undecided, unknown," he said.
Gerald Wallace, who played with Bogans in Brooklyn and was part of the summer blockbuster that delivered both of them to Boston, said he talked briefly with Bogans on Tuesday, but said Bogans didn't divulge why he's been excused.
"I don’t really have an understanding," Wallace said. "I really don’t know what he has going on or what he has going on with that situation. Like I told him, I’m here -- whenever you want to talk, just call me. When he wants to talk about it or deal with it, he’ll give me a call."
The 33-year-old Bogans, a veteran of nine teams in 11 NBA seasons, remains under contract with the Celtics. He is earning $5.1 million this season as part of a trade bonus, but the final two years of his deal are nonguaranteed.
