The Celtics began the process of trimming their roster down towards the 15-man regular-season limit by releasing forward/center Jamal Sampson Thursday. The 6-foot-11 Sampson played a mere 1:42 in Wednesday's exhibition finale after missing the opener while away from the team due to personal reasons.
The Celtics now have 16 players in camp, including three more camp invites in Greg Stiemsma, Michael Sweetney, and Gilbert Brown, with coach Doc Rivers noting the team could trim down to 14 coming out of camp in order to allow wiggle room for a veteran addition down the road.
