Boston Celtics: Playoff Predictor

Playoff predictor is back

March, 27, 2012
PM ET's (highly addictive) Playoff Predictor is back for the 2011-12 season and you can waste a day (or three) trying to get the Celtics to win the NBA title. This is about as close as we came with a solid half-hour of messing around this morning (and dare we say it was actually easier to get them past the second round as a No. 7 seed than by jumping them up to No. 4). Even still, you're going to need a lot of upsets...

Celtics in NBA Finals

Happy simulations. Hop HERE to try your own.
Who says the Celtics need the No. 1 seed to win the NBA title? Not our addictive Playoff Predictor, which is back for another season, allowing you to simulate the NBA playoffs in a variety of seedings (including using John Hollinger's playoff odd like in the simulation above).

To be fair, our very first simulation using current standings produced a second-round exit for Boston and THIS result, so take all simulations with a grain of salt.

Impossible is nothing

ESPN IllustrationIt only took about 1,473,298 simulations to get this.
We'll admit, we were starting to think it wasn't possible to get ESPN's new addicting Playoff Predictor to generate a bracket that featured the Celtics winning the NBA title (heck, we were having trouble getting them out of the first round against the Bucks).

But here's proof it's possible. Needless to say, my friend Szymon has a ton of time on his hands.

Can't wait for the playoffs? Try's brand-new Playoff Predictor. It's just as much fun as the Draft Machine around the deadline. You'll find yourself clicking endlessly trying to get the Celtics to raise Banner 18.

For what it's worth, the first two simulations I ran with the current standings featured the fifth-seeded Bucks upsetting the fourth-seeded Celtics.
