BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics will turn loose the intriguing Gerald Wallace/Jeff Green combo at the start of their final exhibition game Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets, trotting out a first unit that matches the pair with Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk, and Vitor Faverani.

"It gives us a chance to be a little unique," said Celtics coach Brad Stevens. "And, at the same time, it doesn’t forfeit the ability to move and defend multiple positions. We’re going to continue to play around with that, and I think [the Green/Wallace combo is] something that you very well could see early on in the regular season."

Added Stevens: "They are both [shooting guard/small forward] out there with our lineup. I think they could both play the [power forward], obviously, but if you look at who’s played and who’s been really productive for us, those guys are more likely to play wing spots than power forward spots."

Talking to reporters 95 minutes before tip-off, Stevens wasn't certain Faverani would be available as his back had stiffened up a bit and he was waiting to see if he'd make it through warmups.

The Celtics will be without Jared Sullinger (illness), but will have both Phil Pressey (ankle) and Keith Bogans (thumb) available. Pressey missed the last game after spraining his left ankle, while Bogans missed nearly two weeks with a sprained right thumb.

Inside the Nets' locker room, Deron Williams playfully asked Boston reporters (who had herded to hear Jason Terry speak, but he did not) if anyone wanted to interview Reggie Evans. A playful Williams pitched it as, "he was almost a Celtic." Evans' name was included in one of the initial iterations of the summer blockbuster between the Celtics and Nets, but was later swapped out. For fun, Evans had teammates autograph a pair of lemons and had a ballboy deliver them across the hall to former Nets MarShon Brooks and Bogans.
