After two days of speculation about whether the government shutdown caused by a budget impasse in Congress would force the cancellation of Saturday’s matchup between Boston College and Army, a resolution has been reached and the game will go on as scheduled.
As he has throughout the week, BC athletic director Brad Bates took to Twitter to announce the news:
The Eagles’ AD, who has been active on Twitter since taking over in Chestnut Hill last October, used social media to give multiple updates to fans throughout the process.
Once the game’s status was confirmed, Bates sent out a thank-you note to fans:
Thank you, fans, for your patience and understanding the past couple of days. Also, thanks to Army AD Boo Corrigan, who has been terrific.— Brad Bates (@BCBradBates) October 3, 2013
The Eagles (2-2, 1-1 ACC) will kick off against the Black Knights (2-3) at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday (on ESPN3).
