A national audience will get an early look at new basketball coach Jim Christian’s Eagles, as Boston College will play New Mexico in the first round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Nov. 20 on ESPN2 (5 p.m. ET).
Dan McDermott, BC’s director of basketball operations, tweeted about the news on Tuesday:

The Eagles will play either George Mason or West Virginia in the second round. The other side of the bracket includes the College of Charleston, defending national champion Connecticut, Dayton and Texas A&M.
The appearance in the early-season tournament is a highlight of BC’s nonconference slate for 2014-15, which notably includes eight home games and no true road games.
BC finished 8-24 in 2013-14, Steve Donahue’s final season in Chestnut Hill, including 3-11 in road games and 1-4 in games on neutral courts.
In addition to three games in San Juan, BC will play UMass at TD Garden in the Coaches vs. Cancer tripleheader on Nov. 16 and will host Providence (Dec. 5), USC (Dec. 21) and Harvard (Jan. 14), among others, at Conte Forum. Christian’s first true road game as the Eagles’ head coach won’t come until ACC play begins.
