Tufts blitzes Salisbury for lacrosse title
Tufts University won its second Division 3 men's lacrosse national championship in the last five years, defeating Salisbury 12-9 Sunday at Baltimore.
The teams finished the first half tied, 5-5, before the Jumbos fashioned a seven-goal outburst in the third period to take a 12-6 lead.
John Uppgren, Ben Andreycak and Peter Gill each scored a pair of goals, while Cole Bailey had a goal and five assists. Patton Watkins had 17 saves for Tufts.
The Jumbos drew motivation from their association with Jacob Beranger, a 7-year-old cancer patient who was part of the team through Team IMPACT.
