Herzlich on SC to promote book

By Jack McCluskey

Former Boston College star Mark Herzlich was at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., on Wednesday to promote his new book, “What It Takes: Fighting for My Life and My Love of the Game” on “SportsCenter.”

The book -- written with Alex Tresniowski -- details Herzlich’s football career, his battle with Ewing’s sarcoma while at BC and how he overcame long odds to not only return to the football field but make it to the NFL and win a Super Bowl with the New York Giants.

Herzlich had a little fun on Twitter before his appearance:

Took a @SportsCenter #selfie can't even be sorry about it! pic.twitter.com/H6k475X66w

And a little more:

With @lindacohn to have some @SportsCenter fun and talk #WHATITTAKES. It's it just me or is my shirt see-through? pic.twitter.com/WgfcKnHGaK

He also got a look at the new “SportsCenter” studio:

Picture in brand new @SportsCenter studio this is insane. Feels like you are broadcasting from a real life video game pic.twitter.com/cLjOpIj8Wl

The visit to central Connecticut comes a few days after Herzlich appeared on “Olbermann” with Keith Olbermann. You can watch Part 1 of that interview here, and Part 2 here.

The book is currently ranked as a No. 1 best seller in the football category on Amazon.
