EVERETT, Mass. -- BC High star running back Preston Cooper sustained a serious leg injury during the No. 3 Eagles' 35-21 loss at No. 1 Everett on Saturday afternoon.

The reigning Catholic Conference MVP was swept under during a 7-yard carry late in the third quarter and suffered what BC High head coach Jon Barlett called a dislocated ankle.

The training staffs from both teams attended to Cooper, a Wareham resident, near midfield and an ambulance was immediately called onto the field of play.

"It's a big loss losing Preston," Bartlett said. "He's one of the top players in the state, if not the top running back in the state."

Cooper had 15 carries for 161 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown run on the previous BC High possession.
