Needham pair give football commitments

December, 19, 2011
Two of Needham High's senior football standouts from the past season have given their college commitments.

Quarterback Drew Burnett will be heading to Tufts next season while safety and receiver Dan Pierce will play his college football at Middlebury.

Burnett threw for 18 touchdown passes and 1,320 yards before suffering a season-ending leg injury in the Rockets' game at Milton. He's expected to make a full recovery and play next season for the Jumbos.

Pierce had over 100 tackles, along with three interceptions, while posting 25 catches for 515 yards and six touchdowns on offense. He was also voted team MVP for the Division 1 EMass Super Bowl finalists by his teammates.
